University of Botswana intends to establish a comprehensive international office as part of its new organizational structure as well as to give impetus to the process of internationalization. As such, the office will make sure that the ratio of international students is increased from five to 15 percent.

The University of Botswana is in the process of developing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Occupational Hygiene, environmental health, toxicology, and climate change and health.

A University of Namibia (Unam) delegation recently visited University of Botswana Center for Continuing Education (CCE) to share lessons and experiences on organizational restructuring. UB is currently undergoing a restructuring process while Unam completed a similar exercise in 2021.

The recently launched University of Botswana Innovation Centre has received over 131 applications from members of the public who are eager to have their business projects accelerated or incubated to commercial stage.

Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, has advised the new Student Representative Council (SRC) and Graduate Students Association (GSA)to continual engage in dialogue with management to help make the University of Botswana a student-centred university. Professor Norris was speaking at the inauguration of Mr Maatla Magibisela led SRC.

Fourth and third year Apparel Design and Product Development students in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences recently held a fashion show to showcase their end of semester garments and interior designs.

University of Botswana through the Department of Environmental Health donated a sum of P15 000 to the Diabetes association of Botswana. The fundraising exercise was spearheaded by the Environmental Health class 221, 2023 as part of their semester assessment as well as an effort to instil the spirit of giving back to the community.

A delegation from the University of Venda is on a visit to the University of Botswana. The team is led by Vice Chancellor and Principal, Dr Bernard Nthambeleni and the purpose of the visit is to explore for possibilities of mutual collaboration between the two institutions.

The University of Botswana has delivered yet another first following the launch of the country’s first ever University Technology Transfer Office and Innovation Centre today. The purpose of the centre is to strengthen research and development of innovative products with commercial value.
