We are delighted to announce a new partnership between the University of Botswana Resuscitation Training Program (UB-RTP) and the Initiative for Medical Equity and Global Health (IMEGH). This collaboration aims to enhance the resuscitation training opportunities available in Botswana by offering Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses.
These courses are certified by the National Health Care Provider Solutions (NHCPS), an American organization specializing in resuscitation training. The NHCPS curriculum is comparable to that of the American Heart Association but includes tailored content designed to address the unique challenges and circumstances faced in African settings.
The courses will employ a blended online and in-person training model, allowing participants to complete pre-course material online. This innovative approach reduces course fees and ensures that in-person sessions focus entirely on practical skills and teamwork, maximizing the hands-on experience and effectiveness of the training.
Key benefits of these courses include:
- Comprehensive Training: Covering BLS, ACLS, and PALS, participants will gain essential skills for managing cardiac and respiratory emergencies in both adult and pediatric patients.
- African Contextualization: Enhanced content specifically designed to address the healthcare needs and realities of African settings.
- Flexible Learning: The blended model provides flexibility, enabling participants to complete theoretical components at their convenience online.
- Cost-Effective: Reduced course fees due to the online pre-course material, making high-quality training more accessible.
We believe this partnership will significantly improve the quality and accessibility of resuscitation training in Botswana, ultimately contributing to better patient outcomes and enhanced healthcare delivery across the region.
