University of Botswana through the Department of Environmental Health donated a sum of P15 000 to the Diabetes association of Botswana. The fundraising exercise was spearheaded by the Environmental Health class 221, 2023 as part of their semester assessment as well as an effort to instil the spirit of giving back to the community.

A delegation from the University of Venda is on a visit to the University of Botswana. The team is led by Vice Chancellor and Principal, Dr Bernard Nthambeleni and the purpose of the visit is to explore for possibilities of mutual collaboration between the two institutions.

The University of Botswana has delivered yet another first following the launch of the country’s first ever University Technology Transfer Office and Innovation Centre today. The purpose of the centre is to strengthen research and development of innovative products with commercial value.

Third year student, Mr. Maatla Magibisela, is the new University of Botswana Student Representative Council (SRC) President. Mr Magibisela garnered 571 votes, beating Mr. Boniface Seane who got 523, Mr. Tiro Dean Ntwayagae who got 498 while Mr. Thapelo Walebona trailed behind with 119 votes.

Head of the Political, Press and Information Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Botswana and SADC, Mrs Silvia Bopp Hamrouni together with Programme Manager, Ms Laura Virgili, visited the University of Botswana for a tour of its recently established Innovation Centre.

A delegation from Rutgers University in the United States of America on April 11, 2023 visited University of Botswana as part of strengthening relations in different areas of engineering, business, global health, research, training, students and staff exchange.

After 40 years of working for the University of Botswana, Ms Gape Mapii, has bid the institution goodbye following her retirement from service. Born in Mahalapye in 1962, Ms Mapii had been serving the university as Assistant Manager Financial Services at the time of her retirement.
