The University of Botswana on February 28, 2022 launched a P500 million state-of-the-art High-Performance Centre (HPC). The HPC was officially launched by the Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Dr Douglas Letsholathebe.

Two Okavango Research Institute (ORI) staff members, Professor Donald Letsholo Kgathi and Professor Barbara Ntombi Ngwenya will retire after serving the University of Botswana for a combined 73 years.

The University of Botswana has come up with a number of initiatives with the aim of moving towards becoming a high-performance organisation. One such initiative is the Industry Masterclass series that aims at fostering change through cultivation of academia-industry partnerships to ensure cross-fertilization ideas.

University of Botswana immediate Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr Audrey Masizana, is confident that apart from promoting the mandate of the Committee on Data (CODATA), her contribution as an executive member will also boost the University of Botswana's global standing.
