VC Envisions High Performance Centre

With its world class sporting facilities, the Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, believes the University of Botswana can serve as a high performance centre for sport. 

Professor Norris told a visiting European Union three-member delegation at UB on May 18, 2018, that the University boasted, among others, a world class Campus Indoor Sports Centre that could be used as a high performance centre that could attract athletes from all over the world.  

UB, BITC sign MoU to open Training, Research Avenues

The University of Botswana and Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which opens avenues for long-term collaborations between the two institutions. 

Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, signed on behalf of UB, while BITC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Keletsositse Olebile signed for his institution during a ceremony held at the UB Council Chamber on May 8, 2018. 

UB Accepts to Host AU Model Summit

The University of Botswana has accepted to host the 2018 African Union (AU) Model Summit later this year. The Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, disclosed this following a proposal from the AU Southern Africa Regional Office. A delegation from the regional office met members of the UB executive management team at UB on May 16, 2018 to present the proposal. 

Presidents Masisi, Ramaphosa meeting stirs UB, CUT to action

​​​​​​​Barely a week after President Mokgweetsi Masisi met his South African counterpart, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa on April 12, 2018, a meeting during which the two vowed to strengthen bilateral relations between their countries, the University of Botswana and Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein were already trying to turn such into reality.

School of Nursing re-designated WHO Collaborating Centre

The University of Botswana School of Nursing, which has been the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) for Nursing and Midwifery Development for the English Speaking African Countries since 1990, has been re-designated again, but this time with expanded terms of reference for another four years. The re-designation is done every four years with specific terms of reference.
