Academic Services

The Department of Academic Services is mainly charged with the coordination and directing of all functions related to student recruitment; admissions; enrolment management systems; maintenance of student information systems; provision of senate secretariat; coordination of students registration, lecturing and examination scheduling; examinations administration, graduation activities and management of both former and current students records.

Student Welfare

The Department of Student Welfare falls under the Division of Student Affairs which is mandated to improve the student experience in the university. The office handles student's accommodation services, reception of new students, student leadership development, management of residence life and the general welfare of students at UB. We ensure that as a student you have a conducive living and learning environment. All activities are held under the theme 'we are here to grow' which emphasises continuous learning and growth.

 

Public Affairs

The Department of Public Affairs  is responsible for the promotion and projection of the name and reputation of the University. As a corollary, Public Affairs distributes information about the University in the widest possible sense within and outside the institution, and is responsible for events, protocol, liaison, and marketing the University’s identity and brand to promote its corporate image.

Office of the Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor (VC) is the academic and administrative leader of the institution. S/he establishes and implements a university strategic management plan for efficient use of its resources, human, fiscal, and capital, in compliance with the University of Botswana Act and Statutes. The VC therefore enables the realisation of the vision and mission of the University by coordinating the development of its policies, plans and programmes, based on the strategic overview of the University and its environment.

Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs)

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs (DVC AA) provides leadership and advises the Vice Chancellor in the academic area where s/he is responsible for academic policy, plans and formulation and implementation of teaching, research and service programmes and the overall direction of academic support services. The DVC AA is therefore responsible for the development and implementation of effective strategies for teaching and learning across the University and ensures that University becomes aware of best practices and developments in these areas.

Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration)

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration (DVC F&A) provides leadership in the finance and administration areas and provide strategic and policy advice to the Vice Chancellor on financial and administrative matters. S/he is responsible for policy formulation and implementation of the financial, administration, information technology, human resources, security, domestic services, general services and the maintenance of physical resource functions of the University.

Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs)

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs (DVC SA) provides leadership and advises the Vice Chancellor on matters of student affairs, and develops policy for all aspects of student life. Among others, the DVC SA provides consultative and other mechanisms to stimulate dialogue between the University authorities and the student body and promote good government and peace across the University.

School of Allied Health Professions

The School of Allied Health Professions is one of the schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The school has 3 degree programmes. Two in the discipline of Laboratory medicine i.e. BSc Medical laboratory Sciences (Generic and completion programme, BSc Cytotechnology and Histotechnology Sciences) and Pharmacy programme. In addition, the school offers graduate level (MPhil and PhD in medical laboratory Sciences) on full-time and part-time basis.
