Portugal keen on expanding cooperation with UB

Today, the Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, hosted Portugal's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ms Teresa Ribeiro.

The two discussed a number of issues among which was to foster cooperation and collaboration as the University of Botswana embarks on a quest to become a truly international university.

Ms Ribeiro and Professor Norris underscored the importance of internationalisation if UB was to produce quality research and well-rounded graduates.

UB has signed a protocol with Portugal to offer courses in Portuguese and currently the language is offered at a proficiency level. However, plans are underway to offer it at degree level.

The two parties are also looking into coming up with a more structured way and new avenues to expand their cooperation to other universities in Portugal to create a win-win situation between the two countries.
