Presidents Masisi, Ramaphosa meeting stirs UB, CUT to action

Barely a week after President Mokgweetsi Masisi met his South African counterpart, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa on April 12, 2018, a meeting during which the two vowed to strengthen bilateral relations between their countries, the University of Botswana and Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein were already trying to turn such into reality.

School of Nursing re-designated WHO Collaborating Centre

The University of Botswana School of Nursing, which has been the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) for Nursing and Midwifery Development for the English Speaking African Countries since 1990, has been re-designated again, but this time with expanded terms of reference for another four years. The re-designation is done every four years with specific terms of reference.

The Okavango Research Institute (ORI) has been described as a gem in the area of research in Botswana. Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, disclosed this during his two-day visit to the institute on April 5, 2018.

UB, CUT agree to joint leverage of capabilities

The University of Botswana entered into a three-year agreement on April 16, 2018 with the Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein, South Africa through which the two institutions of higher learning committed themselves to jointly leveraging their capabilities in promoting scholarly activities and international understanding in a number of areas.

Vice President commends UB for climate change conference

The Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, has commended the University of Botswana for its dedicated efforts towards the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) process.

Mr Slumber Tsogwane was speaking at the official opening of the IPCC 4th Lead Author Meeting (LAM4) at the University of Botswana Conference Centre on April 9, 2018.

UB excels, attracts hundreds at HRDC Fair

The University of Botswana exhibition stall was the centre of attraction at the Human Resource Development Skills Fair and Career Clinics held at Ditshupo Hall on March 19-23, 2018. Hundreds of potential students frequented the stalls to enquire about available courses, with several of them applying on the spot. The University brought along all its nine faculties and support service departments for a comprehensive outreach programme.

Stellenbosch University honours UB professor

Stellenbosch University (SU) of South Africa has bestowed Professor Musa Dube an honourary doctorate. Professor Dube was bestowed the Doctor of Theology (DTh), honoris causa at SU’s second graduation ceremony on March 20, 2018 as part of the institution’s centenary commemoration.
