The University of Botswana and Japanese Embassy have, for quite some time now, enjoyed good relations that they are keen on expanding to another level. This emerged during a courtesy call the new Japanese Ambassador and Special Representative to SADC, Mr Kozo Takeda, paid on Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Kgomotso Moahi, at UB on November 28, 2017.

The Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Dr Alfred Madigele, has appointed Professor David Norris as the sixth Vice Chancellor of the University of Botswana with effect from December 1, 2017.

Since its inception in 1982, UB has had five Vice Chancellors in Professor John Turner (1982-1984), Professor Thomas Tlou (1984-1998), Professor Sharon Siverts (1998-2003), Professor Bojosi Otlhogile (2003-2011) and Professor Thabo Fako (2011-2017).

The 2017/18 University of Botswana Student Representative Council (SRC) and Graduate Students Association (GSA) have promised to cultivate a mutually beneficial working relationship with the University executive management. 

The University of Botswana Chancellor who is also the Vice President of Botswana, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, has paid tribute to his predecessors, Sir Ketumile Masire and Dr Festus Mogae.

The newly inaugurated University of Botswana Chancellor who is also the Vice President of Botswana, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, has promised to work closely with management to transform UB into a world class institution of higher learning.

Botswana and South Africa have embarked on efforts to intensify institutional collaborations and partnerships between their institutions of higher learning.
