Brief Biography

Prof Otukile Phibion is a Music Education Lecturer at the University of Botswana in the Department of Primary Education. He holds a Doctor of Music (DMus) from the University of Pretoria. He teaches Music Education, Ethnomusicology and Educational Research. His research areas include; Music Education, Ethnomusicology and Special Education. Prof Phibion has published immensely in the areas mentioned above. He is currently the Chief Examiner for all Botswana Colleges of Education. He is also an External Examiner of four Universities for Masters and Doctoral students respectively. Prof Phibion is a renowned choir conductor and adjudicator. He is a member of regional and international music societies such as; Pan – African Society for Musical Arts in Education (PASMAE) and the International Society for Music Education (ISME). He recently won elections to be a member for the Board of Directors for ISME (2020 – 2022). Prof Phibion has established International Exchange Partnerships with Universities in Finland and Taiwan for the University of Botswana.
