PhD Zoology (Hydrobiology & Fisheries)

MSc Applied Hydrobiology & Fisheries

BSc (Hons) Zoology

I am a Professor of Aquatic Biology and Ecotoxicology with over twenty years of teaching and research experience in higher education. Since June 2025, I have been with the University of Botswana, where I continue to advance research and capacity building in aquatic sciences. My career has been defined by extensive studies of streams, creeks, rivers, wetlands, oceans, and estuaries, particularly within the Niger Delta, providing critical insights into aquatic ecology and sustainable ecosystem management. As a recognized leader in Aquatic Ecology, Environmental Impact Assessment, Biodiversity, and Ecotoxicology, I have managed numerous large-scale research projects and participated in several international collaborations. I have supervised a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, including 20 PhD graduates, and have led multiple consultancy assignments for governmental and non-governmental organizations. My research excellence is evidenced by a SCOPUS H-index of 25 and over 95 peer-reviewed articles indexed on SCOPUS, contributing to a total of more than 200 journal publications. I have delivered eleven invited talks and presented 40 conference abstracts, ten of which were at the international level. My postdoctoral research was conducted at the Institute for Water Research, Rhodes University, South Africa in 2009. I have also served as a visiting researcher on river conservation at the Senckenberg Natural Museum, Gelnhausen, Germany in 2014,
