Brief Biography

Dr. Morena Rankopo is a Senior lecturer and Coordinator of the Graduate Social Work programmes. He is one of the founding members of the Fieldwork Education Unit in which he researched on the learning outcomes for fieldwork placement, duration and related policies. He has taught several courses at the diploma, bachelor's and master's degree programmes. He teaches in the areas of indigenisation of social work, community practice, group work practice, supervision and management of social services organisations, social work ethics and community economic development. He has been involved in staff development and training in several organisations including the Botswana Police, Ntlo ya Dikgosi, NACA, and the Ministry of Local Government Development on such topical issues as gender mainstreaming, HIV and AIDS mainstreaming, gender and public sector budgeting, community development and community resilience. Lately, he has been working on decolonising social work and disaster risk reduction.
