Undergraduate Applications

Application for Undergraduate Admission in August 2023

Prospective applicants are informed that there are vacancies in some of the undergraduate study programmes. Those who are interested in any of the undergraduate study programmes listed below are therefore invited to apply for entry in August 2023. The application period for supplementary admission is open until 30th July 2023.

All the undergraduate study programmes advertised here are registered with the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA).

 

Any applicant interested in studying a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma at University of Botswana (UB) must meet the following:

  1. General Minimum Entry Requirements:
    1. The general minimum ENTRY requirements to the University shall be the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) or equivalent qualification with at least six subjects NOT below a grade of E.
    2. For all programmes, English Language shall be one of the qualifying subjects.
    3. English Language must at least be a minimum of grade C for non-science degree programmes and at least a minimum of grade D for science-based programmes.
    4. For Degree programmes, at least five subjects shall be at a minimum of grade C obtained at one or two examination sittings.
    5. For Diploma and Certificate programmes, at least a minimum of three grades of C with a minimum of grade E in English Language shall be required. Five subjects may be considered if the minimum cut-off point based on six subjects is met.
    6. The minimum entry BGCSE points shall be 34 points for all undergraduate Degree and 30 points for Diploma and Certificate programmes.
    7. Applicants with BGCSE/equivalent, with a minimum of grade E in English Language may be considered for admission into the Bachelor’s degree programmes.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to pay their Application Fee on-line through the link https://www.ub.bw/ubpayments or at the Banks and should write their full names and IDs as reference on the deposit slip.

Applicants may make changes to their study choices through a letter to:

Admission Processing

Applicants who meet the set programme entry requirements will be admitted based on academic merit, depending on the availability of space.  Meeting the minimum entry requirements therefore does not guarantee admission.

Closing date

Applications for August 2023 entry for both local and international prospects will close on 30th July 2023.

How to apply for admission

Before Applying

  • Make sure the following documents are readily available:
    • Application fee receipt (pay a non-refundable Application Fee listed under Schedule of Fees, View Schedule of Fees which is payable into the UB bank accounts listed under Financial Procedures or UB Cash Office)
    • Certified copy of the Senior Secondary School Certificate or Statement of Results (School Leavers)
    • Certified copies of Transcript(s) and or Certificate(s) for those applyinf for Upper Levels, Transfers and Re-Admission
    • Certified copy of National Identity Card (Omang) / Passport (Omang for citizens)

Completing your Application

Tracking your Application

  • Once you have applied and have received the acknowledgement letter, you may use the login details on such a letter to track the process of your application. To do that navigate to the login screen and login using the details given on the acknowledgement letter. Navigate by clicking Main Menu, then Student Admissions, then Self Service and Student Centre.

Making Changes

  • Applicants may make changes to their study choice anytime before the closing date for applications, but that has to be done through Undergraduate Admissions, Recruitment and Liason office.
