Graduate Applications

APPLICATION FOR GRADUATE ADMISSION IN AUGUST 2026

All prospective applicants are informed that the third cycle for applications for admission into the University Graduate study programmes for the August 2026 intake is open until 16th August 2026.

All the University of Botswana graduate study programmes are accredited and/or registered by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) on the National Credit and Qualifications Framework (NCQF).

On-line Application 
Prospective applicants should apply online through the “STUDY” link on the University of Botswana website:  www.ub.bw. Applicants are to use any Internet facility available to them to apply. A booklet entitled “ONLINE APPLICATION: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE” guides how to complete an application online is provided through the “STUDY” link on the University website.

Applicants with Disability
University of Botswana welcomes applicants with disability and considers their applications on academic merit like all other applicants. Applicants are expected to state whether they have any disability when they apply. Those with disability should contact the University’s Disability Support Services Unit at the following telephone numbers: (+267)-355-2768/4183/4490/4991 to explain the nature of their disability. The declaration of such information helps the University assess applicants' learning needs. University of Botswana will always preserve the confidentiality of information about every prospect or student.

Application Fee
Prospective applicants can pay their Application Fee online at UB Payments or at the Banks. On the Bank’s deposit slip, they should write their full names and Omang/Passport number as a reference. 

How to apply for admission

Before Applying

Make sure the following documents are readily available

  • Copy of Application fee receipt 
    (Prospective applicants are encouraged to pay their Application Fee online (https://www.ub.bw/ubpayments) or at the Banks
  • Certified copy of Degree Certificate (s)
  • Certified Copy of Transcript
  • Two copies of completed Professional/Academic References
  • Certified copy of National Identity Card (Omang for citizens) and Passport for international applicants
  • Personal Statement of Intent for Masters and Proposal/Research Plan for MPhil/PhD
  • A copy of the current practicing certificate by Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana or the country of origin.
  • Copy of proof of change of surname (where applicable) N.B. All former UB students who have changed their surnames should use surnames they used while they were students at UB so that the system will easily map their student ID to their surname and to their previous record. The new surname could be captured through SGS offices once the applicant has been admitted.

     An e-mail address is required for one to apply online

Completing your Application

Each applicant can submit two applications. Each application should have its own separate application fee, else one of them will be rejected.

Tracking your Application

  • Once you have applied and have received the acknowledgement letter, you may use the login details on such a letter to track the process of your application.

Applicants may make changes to their study choices by emailing to admissions@ub.ac.bw

Admission Processing

Applicants who meet the set programme entry requirements will be admitted based on academic merit, depending on the space availability. Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not, therefore, guarantee admission.

Closing date

Applications for August 2026 entry for local and international prospects will close on 16th August 2026.

General Information

Applications will be processed to determine eligibility, the outcome of which will be communicated to the applicants accordingly.

Applicants should ensure that they provide correct personal e-mail address and cell-phone numbers as the outcome of their applications will be communicated through such media.
