His thesis was on developing a Data Warehouse solution for accident claims evaluation for Motor Vehicle Accident fund in Botswana. He started working as a Lecturer in 2019 in the faculty of Business where he taught Business Information Systems courses. His research interests are in the areas of Business intelligence, information systems, Data Warehousing and Information Retrieval.

Ishmael Mugari is currently a lecturer in the Department of Sociology (Criminal Justice Programme) at the University of Botswana. He joined the University in February 2024. Prior to joining UB, Ishmael was a lecturer at Bindura University of Science Education, Zimbabwe, where he served as a lecturer and Chairman in the Department of Intelligence and Security Studies. He taught in the areas of criminology, contemporary policing, commercial crime, criminal intelligence analysis and national security analysis.
With his research interests in Criminology, police accountability, police strategy and national security issues, Ishmael has published quite extensively in his areas of research. He has authored a book entitled “An Introduction to Criminological Theory, Penology and Crime Prevention”, over 40 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and three book chapters.

An Environmental Sociologist whose research interest is on the interface between environment, social change and development. He has a good understanding of both environmental and socio-economic consequences of development. He currently teaches courses within the human environment stream at undergraduate and graduate levels. He teaches courses on rural development and natural resource conservation, environmental policy analysis, natural resource use policy, community based natural resource management and conservation etc. He has practical experience in undertaking Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) studies. He has experience supervising students’ research at undergraduate and graduate (MSc and PhD) levels.
