I joined Alemaya University (now renamed as Haramaya University), Ethiopia, in August 1999 immediately after graduating from my undergraduate as Graduate Assistant. I went to Addis Ababa University to do MSc in the Department of Mathematics in Analysis which I finished in 2003. I was appointed a Lecturer in Mathematics in 2003 by Alemaya University. I joined Addis Ababa University as Lecturer in 2004.  I joined Andhra University, India, in 2007 to pursue my PhD studies and graduated with PhD in Applied mathematics in 2011. I was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2011 by Addis Ababa University in the Department of Mathematics, and further promoted to Associate Professor in 2017. I joined University of Botswana in 2021 as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics. I served Addis Ababa University in different academic and administrative positions until my departure in 2021.
