DEPARTMENT OF INTERNAL MEDICINE
LECTURER IN INTERNAL MEDICINE AND NEUROLOGY (3-YEAR CONTRACT)
VACANCY NO: FM/DIM 01/2023
Duties: the successful candidate will: (i) teach undergraduate medical students and postgraduate students; (ii) conduct research and/or creative professional works in his/her areas of expertise and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research projects; (iii) provide service to the university, profession and community; (iv) provide clinical care in affiliated hospitals; and (v) carry out any other duties assigned by the head of the department.
Requirements: (i) at least a Masters of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine or equivalent, PLUS evidence of a sub-specialty in Neurology; (ii) a first degree in Medicine (MBBS, MD, MBChB or equivalent qualification) from a recognised institution. The qualification must be registered or registrable by the Botswana Health Professions Council; (iii) evidence of engagement in research, including published journal articles, presenting scholarly work at seminars and conferences locally as well as internationally, participation in research teams and collaborative programs, participation in reference committees.
The following will be added advantages: (i) experience of teaching at a university or comparable institution; ii) engagement in research and clinical service; iii) evidence of governance and social engagement.
The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of the publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorised into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
