Application for Admission, Re-admission and Transfer - January 2026

Former undergraduate students, who have been away from the University of Botswana (UB) for a period of less than 10 semesters (five academic years); new undergraduate applicants who wish to study part-time, or distance programmes and those who would like to transfer from their current institutions to UB, are invited to apply to enrol in January 2026.

The former undergraduate students in reference are those who previously withdrew with/without due notice, failed and discontinued/excluded, had their enrollment terminated, and have been away from the University for at least one semester.

Students in other academic institutions who wish to transfer to UB are also informed that they may apply to enrol in January 2026, provided they have completed and passed at least one year of their undergraduate study programme.

New applicants who wish to apply for admission to study part-time or distance learning programmes should take note of the following:

  1. PART-TIME PROGRAMME

    1. Diploma in Accounting and Business Studies: 3 years: Certificate IV, NCQF Level 4 (BGCSE)/equivalent.
      • Applicants with a Certificate in Accounting and Business Studies or equivalent qualification will be considered.
      • The programme is offered as an evening part-time programme at centres in Francistown, Gaborone, Jwaneng, Lobatse, Mahalapye, Maun and Selebi-Phikwe.
         
  2. DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMMES

    1. Bachelor of Accountancy: 5 years: Certificate IV, NCQF Level 4 (BGCSE)/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
    2. Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing): 5 years: Certificate IV, NCQF Level 4 (BGCSE)/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
    3. Bachelor of Business Administration (Management): 5 years: Certificate IV, NCQF Level 4 (BGCSE)/equivalent with a minimum of grade C in English Language and Mathematics.
       
      • Applicants with a Diploma in Accountancy and Business Studies or equivalent may be considered for entry at Level 100 or Level 200 into any of the Degree programmes mentioned above.
      • Applicants may also be considered through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT)

All applicants are informed that the University of Botswana undergraduate study programmes are accredited and/or registered on the National Credit and Qualifications Framework (NCQF) with the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA).

In processing applications for the January 2026 intake, UB would like prospective applicants to take note of the following:

  • The application processes for January 2026 entry for both local and international students will be closed on the 25th January 2026.
  • Applications will be processed to determine eligibility, the outcome of which will be communicated to the applicants accordingly.
  • Prospective applicants should ensure that they provide their correct email address and mobile number, as the outcome of their applications will be communicated through such means.

On-line Application

Prospective applicants are expected to make their applications online through the STUDY link. A guide in the form of a booklet, entitled ONLINE APPLICATION: A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE, on how to complete an application online is provided through the STUDY link.

Applicants with Disability

Application Fee

Prospective applicants can pay their Application Fee online at https://www.ub.bw/ubpayments or at the Banks. On the Bank’s deposit slip, they should write their full names and Omang/Passport number as a reference.

Admission Processing

Applicants who meet the set programme entry requirements will be admitted based on academic merit, depending on the space availability. Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not, therefore, guarantee admission. Some of the undergraduate study programmes have reached their full capacity, so they will not be available for application into.

How to apply for admission

Before Applying

  • Make sure the following documents are readily available:
    • Application fee receipt 
    • Certified copy of the Senior Secondary School Certificate or Statement of Results (School Leavers)
    • Certified copies of Transcript(s) and or Certificate(s) for those applyinf for Upper Levels, Transfers and Re-Admission
    • Certified copy of National Identity Card (Omang) / Passport (Omang for citizens)

Tracking your Application

  • Once you have applied and have received the acknowledgement letter, you may use the login details on such a letter to track the process of your application. To do that navigate to the login screen and login using the details given on the acknowledgement letter. Navigate by clicking Main Menu, then Student Admissions, then Self Service and Student Centre.
