The University of Botswana Foundation will host the 18th Annual Fundraising Gala Dinner under the theme Nurturing a Knowledge-based Economy through Alumni Engagement to grow the endowment fund necessary to continue sponsoring deserving Batswana for post-graduate studies.
Nurturing a Knowledge-based Economy through Alumni Engagement speaks to UB alumni to volunteer their time and efforts to advance education and also presents opportunities through which alumni may become active ambassadors of their alma mater and give back to their University. The need to engage alumni draws from the attested spirit of Motho le Motho Kgomo and calls on UB alumni to invest in the future of Botswana’s next generation to attain a knowledge-based economy.
Recent studies have identified knowledge as a major factor of production and the most sustainable resource for the future. As the largest premier tertiary institution in the country and a crucial stakeholder in this area, the University of Botswana continues to explore different avenues to nurture this engine of growth.
Alumni engagement offers great potential to develop the much needed resources to drive Botswana into a knowledge-based economy. The University is desirous in recruiting alumni volunteers in this effort, and is awake to the fact that shared ideas must be identified, to create programmes to match alumni interests and the needs of the University and the Nation. The dinner-dance will be an excellent opportunity to promote conversations to bring alumni on board.
