Christian John Makgala is a Professor of History and Political Economy, and comes from the small town of Morwa in the Kgatleng District of Botswana. He got BA and PGDE from University of Botswana, MPhil and PhD from University of Cambridge.
Professor Makgala, is the Editor of the Botswana Notes and Records journal since 2008.
For community service he has been a member of Botswana Society Board for more than 15 years. He is also a longstanding member of the Board of Phuthadikobo Museum in Mochudi. He occasionally gives keynote speeches cultural and historical events organised by different communities in Botswana.
