Brief Biography

Prof Mpoloka graduated from the University of Botswana in October 1992 with a BSc in Biology and Environmental Sciences after which he joined the Dept of Wildlife and National Parks as an Assistant Wildlife Biologist before joining UB as a Staff Development Fellow. He then completed a 2 year MSc program in Plant Molecular Biology at the University of East Anglia in the UK where he was attached to the John Innes Centre for Plant Molecular Biology. Mpoloka then proceeded to UCT on a USHEPiA Fellowship to pursue PhD studies in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology under Prof Thomsom. He returned to UB in 2001 and has been teaching a number of courses such as Genetics, Molecular Biology, Plant Responses to Environmental Stress, Biotechnology, and Molecular Genetics. He has supervised a number of graduate students.
