Brief Biography

Dr Thatayaone Monkgogi is a lecturer in the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences where she is currently involved in the academic and research activities of the department. She obtained her undergraduate degree in B.Pharm (Hons) in the University of the Western Cape, MSc in Pharmaceutics in University of Hertfordshire and PhD in the University of Nottingham under the Molecular Therapeutics and Formulation Division. Dr Monkgogi worked as a registered pharmacist (BHPC) in Drugs Regulatory Unit for two years before joining the University of Botswana. 

Her area of interest is improved drug delivery with specialisation in stimuli-responsive drug delivery formulations. She also does work in co-crystallisation and novel high throughput screening techniques and 2-D printing of pharmaceuticals. She has expertise in 2-D printing, co-crystallisation, formulating responsive polymers, and pharmaceutical analysis using a range of techniques including but not limited to Raman spectroscopy, Dynamic light scattering, Differential scanning calorimetry, Rheometry, X-ray powder diffraction, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, R software and different spectrophotometers etc. 

She serves in several committees within the university, and she is also an Academic Representative in the Pharmaceutical Society of Botswana.
