Happy Siphambe is a Professor of Economics at the University of Botswana where he has been based for the last 33 years. He is currently the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Botswana. He has served as Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Head of Department of Economics at the University of Botswana.
His major fields are Labour Economics and Development Economics. He has published extensively in the area of poverty, HIV/AIDS, labour market and the general area of Economics of Education. Some of the journals where his papers appear include Economics of Education Review, South African Journal of Economics, Development Southern Africa, Journal of African Economies, Botswana Journal of Economics. He is currently the Managing Editor of Botswana Journal of Economics, a journal of the Botswana Economic Association.
Prof Siphambe has served in many boards that include the Bank of Botswana (central bank of Botswana) Board, Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA) Board, Botswana College of Agriculture (now Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources), Presidential Task Force on Transformation
