Dr. Elias Rabson Offen is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics of Finance at the University of Botswana and is currently a coordinator of the Mathematics of Finance programme. He lectures Mathematics of Finance courses and other Mathematics courses. He has previously taught at the University of Malawi, Mzuzu University (Malawi) and Livingstone University Malawi. Apart from giving lectures he is very active in research activities and community service. He has so far supervised seven PhD students, ten Masters students and more than eighty undergraduates who have completed their studies and is currently supervising four PhD students, two masters and a number of undergraduate. He has marked seven PhD dissertations and eight master’s theses.  He had a number of research visits such as at University of Oslo Norway under sponsorship (Center of Mathematics Application (CMA) of University of Oslo). He has also won TWAS-DFG and CDC completive grants that he used to have three months’ research visits at Humboldt University of Berlin (German) and KU Leuven (Belgium) respectively. His research focus is on Mathematics of Finance, Stochastic Analysis, Insurance Mathematics and in general Actuarial Mathematics in general. Some of the specific areas are portfolio theory, risk control and management, derivative pricing, control theory, pension schemes, ruin probity, insurance in general, defaultable securities, foreign exchange, Asset pricing project valuation, financial modelling and many more.
