Sejong Korean language Intermediate Level 2

RATIONALE 

This Intermediate Sejong Korean Language course is designed to empower learners to transition from basic communication to more sophisticated, self-directed language use in complex social and professional contexts. Building upon foundational skills, the program strategically develops fluency and accuracy in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through thematic modules such as expressing opinions, discussing current events, and understanding Korean media. By analyzing authentic materials like news articles, podcasts, and short narratives, students deepen their comprehension and analytical abilities. This level emphasizes Korean as a key to unlocking deeper intercultural insight and fostering meaningful professional relationships, positioning advanced language proficiency as a critical asset in international fields. Ultimately, the course cultivates autonomous learners who can engage with Korean-speaking communities thoughtfully and effectively, contributing to personal enrichment and professional global competence.

PURPOSE 

  • To have acquired and to demonstrate greater fluency in written and spoken Korean in social situations.
  • To facilitate intercultural communication by applying knowledge, skills, and competence in Korean
  • To have the ability to conduct conversations in Korean in familiar environments
  • To demonstrate the ability to speak and write about social situations, contemporary global issues and world culture in grammatically correct Korean
  • To be competent in composing and writing passages in Korean.

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

  • To be able to talk about themselves and their daily activities.  
  • To use Korean effectively to communicate in a group setting and keep a conversation going.
  • To be able to listen critically and effectively to an oral text.
  • To acquire competence in writing simple and complex paragraphs.
  • To be able to read, analyse and synthesise information from texts of variable complexities.
  • To be able to contextualize the grammar and language skills they learn to improve language retention.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS 

  • Completion of an online King Sejong korean language aptitude test
  • Beginner level competence certificate is required

DELIVERY MODE 

  • In-person, interactive classes held at the King Sejong Institute Gaborone premises.
  • Blended learning resources including a core textbook, audio-visual materials, and access to our online learning platform for practice.
  • Communicative and task-based teaching methodology focusing on practical language use.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 

  • Must have successfully completed the beginner's level.

CERTIFICATION A Certificate of Competence will be awarded by the King Sejong Institute Foundation to students who meet the minimum attendance (70%) and pass the final assessment with the average requirement (60%). The certificate shows the name of the candidate, date of completion, and the details of the course module completed.
