Rationale
- The Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) is an approach which promotes a holistic coordinated development and management of water and related resources.
- It is a framework designed to improve the management of water resources based on Dublin principles of IWRM comprising water as a finite resource, participatory approach, important role of women and water as an economic good.
- IWRM training will help stakeholders and users to advocate or develop high-tech water efficient irrigation, industrial, commercial and domestic systems that are also climate smart and locally available.
Purpose
- Demonstrate an understanding of the evolution, protocols, policies and principles of IWRM
- Demonstrate an understanding of water consumption and tariff systems.
- Demonstrate an understanding of river basin and transboundary water resources management
