RATIONALE
This Basic English Language course for beginners aims at helping students develop a positive, constructive, and practical approach to effective written and oral communication for educational purposes and self-improvement. The course incorporates the four language skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking and provides practical language exercises in everyday situations such as introducing oneself and giving directions. This course further introduces learners to common usage problems in speaking and writing in English.
PURPOSE
This course introduces learners to basic English communication skills. It incorporates all the communication skills of speaking, reading, writing and listening. It is therefore, a practical course that requires learners to display and practice all these skills in different contexts.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- To acquire competence in pronouncing English sounds and basic words
- To develop basic vocabulary to hold a conversation
