RATIONALE This advanced English proficiency course is a programme for people who want to improve their English communication skills – both written and spoken. The course incorporates five language skills – reading, writing, grammar, listening and speaking. The programme provides an environment for improving language skills, building confidence by imparting skills to avoid common language errors in both spoken and written language, coaching in oral presentation skills as well as speech writing and delivery.
PURPOSE This course introduces learners to common usage problems in speaking and writing English. It is a course that is aimed at enabling learners to identify usage errors and correct them. The course focuses on usage problems such as Subject-Verb agreement, Pronoun Reference, Misplaced modifiers, and Dangling modifiers. The course is also aimed at building confidence in public speaking through oral presentations and speech delivery. It also imparts the learners with the skills to read a text intensively, identify the main argument, supporting details and write a summary.
