Rationale
This is a structured 2 day short course aimed at practitioners wishing to gain practical grounding on contract drafting. Contracts are legally binding agreements which spell out the rights and duties of the parties. Consequently, contracts should be clearly written so that the intention of the parties can be easily ascertained. This would not be position where a contact is unclear, vague and ambiguous.
Purpose
The training will focus on practical aspects of contract drafting. It will place contract drafting in perspective by briefly discussing aspects of contract negotiation as well as interpretation of statutes. The main focus will be on the structure of a commercial contract, main clauses, problematic areas and best practices on contract drafting.
