Rationale
- Public Speaking is the art of speech making which is also the number one fear for many people in the corporate, public and academic world and yet the bulk of what many people serving in business, industry, and the public sector do is to speak in public.
Purpose
- Public Speaking course aims to enhance participants’ presentation skills when persuading, educating, or informing any audience.
- As a public speaker you have to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of speech preparation and delivery, classify and structure the speech, gather, organise and critically analyse information in order to produce a well-informed speech.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce an effectively communicating speech
Target Population
- Target population – Administrative staff, executive assistants, recording secretary and personal assistants.
- Entrance requirements – BGSEC or higher academic attainment.

A range of methods are used, including:
- Facilitation
- Practicum
- Video recording of speech
- Critiquing of speech
- Assessing speech presentation

- Participation in class discussions
- Produce and present speech

- Feedback received from participants through daily evaluation forms
- Provision of learner support through question and answer review sessions

- Industry experience
- BGCE and higher academic attainment (Certificate in a related field)
Certification
- Attend 98% of the course to qualify for the certificate
