Rationale
- Providing initial life saving care ahead of the arrival of professional assistance is of utmost importance, either in an organizational environment or anywhere.
- The fundamental priority is to preserve the life of a victim until he/she receives treatment by Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Similarly, after preserving life, your next aim is to avert the worsening of a victim’s condition, with your ultimate aim being to promote recovery from the injury or illness.
Purpose
- The purpose of this course is to essentially make any organizational workforce be aware of ways to address issues of first aid in their workplaces, being to: identify ways to preserve life, understand the ways of preventing the escalation of an illness or injury, establish and evaluate methods of promoting recovery, pain relief and protect the unconscious and ultimately introduce best practices to enhance first aid rules and regulations.
- The training is on specific injuries and illnesses which might be encountered daily and therefore this training must be provided to all employees regardless of their job assignments.

- Simulation of tasks (set a specific task for the participants to demonstrate in a simulated environment)
- Direct observation (watch the practitioner carry out the task or produce a desired outcome)

- Questioning (verbal or written) - ask relevant questions linked to the unit standard
- Participate in site visits to reinforce classroom concepts and contribute to long term professional development
