The Bachelor of Arts in Information and Knowledge Management is a 4-year full-time combined major or major-minor degree extending over a period of eight semesters.
Subject to the provisions of the General Academic Regulations and Faculty of Humanities, the following Departmental Regulations shall apply.
The normal requirements for entrance to the BA IKM Combined Major and Major/Minor Degree Programme are that applicants shall have the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education or equivalent, with credit in English. Applicants intending to study Social Sciences or Science subjects must also have a minimum of grade C in Mathematics or Computer Science.
Applicants possessing a Diploma in Library and Information Studies or Diploma in Archives and Records Management or Diploma in Information and Knowledge Management from the University of Botswana or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution may be admitted into Level 300.
Applicants possessing a Certificate in Library and Information Studies or Certificate in Archives and Records Management or Certificate in Information and Knowledge Management from the University of Botswana or its equivalent from a recognized institution may be admitted into Level 200.
The BA IKM is a full-time programme extending over eight semesters in the single subject information and knowledge and another subject leading to the award of either a BA IKM Combined Major or BA IKM Major Minor. Students pursuing a major in Bachelor Information and Knowledge Management (BIKM) as part of a Combined major are required to take a total of 60 credits from BIKM and those pursuing a Major-minor are required to take 84 credits from the BIKM programme shall consist of a minimum of 30 credits per year. All core courses must be passed
The rest of the credits needed for the award of the BA (IKM) degree will be accumulated from optional courses, GECs and electives
