White Rovers and Ruby Rascals Crowned Champions at Thrilling Fast Break Friday Finals

RelcisThe University of Botswana’s (UB) Fast Break Friday (FBF) basketball finals delivered a night of electrifying action and fierce competition on the 18th of April 2025 as the White Rovers and Ruby Rascals claimed top honours in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. The high-energy finals, hosted by UB Relics, drew a capacity crowd of students, alumni and basketball fans to the UB Campus Indoor Sports Centre.

In a closely contested men’s final, White Rovers edged out Yellow Wranglers with a narrow 71–65 victory. The game was marked by fast-paced play, aggressive defence and clutch performances from both teams. Rovers clinched the title with decisive shooting and defensive tenacity in the final quarter, securing their place at the top after weeks of tough competition.

The women’s final saw Ruby Rascals dominate Cobalt Renegades 62–39 in a one-sided affair. From the outset, Rascals controlled the tempo, demonstrating superior speed, tactical execution and an impenetrable defence. Their consistent pressure kept Renegades from mounting a comeback, sealing a commanding win and Relicsclaiming the women’s championship title.

Individual excellence was also recognised on the night. Nsagwa Ramatebele was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the women’s category for her exceptional all-around performance while Oteng Kesenogile earned the men’s MVP title for his leadership and scoring prowess. The title of “King of the Court” went to Karabo Rabothaako for his standout skill and vision while Toritseju Obietan was crowned “Queen of the Court” for her commanding court presence and precise play.

In pursuit of academic excellence
