Walt Disney World Company Returns to UB on Recruitment Drive

WaltThe Walt Disney World Company in collaboration with University of Botswana Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management recently conducted yet another recruitment exercise for an opportunity to work at the Walt Disney World Company in the United States, in a 12-month excellence service delivery programme, following one held in May 2023.

According to Disney Programmes Senior Recruiter, Mr. Javier Reyes, the September recruitment was to increase candidates to the pool of the 2024 and 2025 intake. He added that no one had been hired yet from the previous recruitment exercise. However, selections will be made for both interviews in due course.

Consequently, prospective candidates were hospitality industry personnel, one of which is a UB Tourism and Hospitality Management graduate. Additionally, 18 Tourism and Hospitality Management programme final year students were afforded the opportunity to attend the Walt Disney World company presentation in preparation for the 2025 cultural representative programme recruitment drive. The internship and industry placement coordinator in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Mrs Montle Siya, who is an alumnus of the Walt Disney World company said they were currently in discussions with the Walt Disney World Company on education partnerships beyond the recruitment efforts with US universities and colleges.

Walt2She explained that UB currently had memorandum of Understandings (MOU’S) with some US institutions of higher learning such as Florida State University, University of Nevada Las Vegas (William F. Harrah College of Hospitality). Thus, together with Walt Disney World Company will seek opportunities for student exchanges and internships to enhance collaborative efforts. The Walt Disney World Company also provides opportunities for recruits to enhance their global career with professional courses offered by Walt Disney University during their tenure.
