Vice Chancellor Gives Returning and New Staff Members Warm Welcome

LunchVice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, this week welcomed new members of staff and those returning from study leave at the UB Stadium VIP lounge. Directing the proceedings, Acting Director of the Human Resources Department, Mr. Joseph Tsimako, said the Vice Chancellor had long desired to host the members of staff for lunch to welcome them back.

Welcoming the staff members, Processor Norris encouraged them to adopt a progressive mindset and to use their creativity to bring change as the University of Botswana continued to implement its new strategy that placed emphasis on transformation.

He said their contribution would add value to the transformation process that the university had embarked upon. The Vice Chancellor noted that their contribution would further bring about improvement in the operations of the university.

Professor Norris appealed to them to work hard to make sure that the University of Botswana remained relevant to society throughlunch impactful research that was geared towards enhancing Botswana’s economic growth besides improving the livelihood of Batswana.

Professor Norris stated that being a research-intensive institution, the University of Botswana was committing itself to finding solutions to challenges faced by different stakeholders, communities, business, government and civil society.

Giving a vote of thanks, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Richard Tabulawa, applauded the members of staff for their achievement and thanked the Department of Staff Training and Development for their efforts to find training opportunities for staff.
