University of Botswana Strengthens Strategic Partnerships Through Four MoUs

MISAThe University of Botswana (UB) today reinforced its commitment to collaboration, innovation and national development by signing four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) – Botswana Chapter, Kitso International College (KIC), Green Africa Youth Organisation (GAYO) and ASA Enterprises.

The agreements were signed during a ceremony held at the University Council Chambers, marking another milestone in UB's efforts to strengthen partnerships that advance teaching, research, innovation and community engagement.

The MoUs establish formal frameworks for collaboration between the University and the four organisations in areas of mutual interest including research, innovation, skills development, knowledge exchange and community outreach. Through these partnerships, the University aims to leverage the expertise and resources of its partners to create opportunities that benefit students, staff and the wider community.

The partnership with MISA Botswana is expected to enhance collaboration in media development, journalism education, professional training, research and public discourse. The agreement with Kitso International College will foster cooperation in academic programmes, capacity building and skills development while the partnership with Green Africa Youth Organisation will promote collaboration in environmental sustainability, youth empowerment and community-based initiatives. The MoU with ASA Enterprises will provide opportunities for industry engagement, innovation and practical collaboration in areas aligned with the University's strategic priorities.

Speaking during the ceremony, UB Vice Chancellor, ASAProfessor David Norris, emphasised that strategic partnerships remained central to UB's vision of becoming a high-performing, globally competitive institution that responds to national and regional development needs through collaborative engagement.

The signing of the four MoUs underscores the University's commitment to building strong relationships with industry, civil society and educational institutions while advancing its mandate of producing knowledge, developing human capital and contributing to Botswana's socio-economic transformation.
