University of Botswana Steps Up Student Recruitment Drive Through Career Fairs and Campus Engagement

UBThe University of Botswana (UB) has intensified its engagement with prospective students through a series of career fairs and campus outreach activities, reaffirming its commitment to helping young people make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.

Recently, the University participated in the Botswana Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) Career Fair 2026 and the Regent Hill International School Career Fair while also welcoming learners from Maru-a-Pula School for an educational tour of the UB campus. The engagements formed part of the University's ongoing student recruitment and stakeholder engagement initiatives aimed at showcasing its academic programmes, research strengths, innovation ecosystem, student support services and world-class learning facilities.

At both career fairs, UB representatives interacted with hundreds of learners, parents and graduates, providing information on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, admissions requirements, scholarships, student life and the wide range of academic and professional opportunities available at the University.

Prospective students also learned about UB's research-intensive environment, entrepreneurship initiatives, international partnerships, student exchange opportunities and experiential learning programmes that prepare graduates for success in an increasingly competitive global economy.

The University's exhibition stands attracted considerable interest as learners sought guidance on selecting programmes aligned with their interests, strengths and career aspirations. Staff encouraged prospective students to view higher education not only as a pathway to employment but also as a platform for innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship and national development. The outreach activities complemented messages delivered by speakers at the career fairs, who challenged young people to pursue careers that address societal challenges, embrace innovation and develop the digital skills required in a rapidly changing world.

Meanwhile, UB's engagement extended beyond the exhibition halls when the University hosted learners from Maru-a-Pula School for an immersive campus experience. The visit provided students with first-hand exposure to life at Botswana's premier institution of higher learning.

During the tour, the learners received presentations on academic programmes, admission requirements and career pathways before visiting several of the University's flagship facilities. These included the Department of Media Studies, where they toured UB Radio studios and other practical teaching facilities, UB Campus Indoor Sports Centre and the UniPod Innovation Hub where they learned how the University nurtures innovation, entrepreneurship and problem-solving among students.

The campus experience enabled the learners to appreciate the breadth of opportunities available beyond the UniPodclassroom and demonstrated how UB combined academic excellence with practical learning, research and innovation to prepare graduates for leadership in diverse sectors of the economy. Collectively, the engagements underscored the University's commitment to making higher education accessible, relevant and responsive to national development needs. They also reinforced UB's position as a destination of choice for students seeking a transformative university experience that combined quality teaching, cutting-edge research, innovation, community engagement and global competitiveness.
