The University of Botswana (UB) and Phakalane Hotels formalised a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on lease terms of UB Hotel and Conference Centre on the 17th of March 2025 at Phakalane Golf Estate.
UB Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Richard Tabulawa, signed on behalf of UB while Phakalane Golf Estate Resort Manging Director, Mr Thola Magang, signed on behalf of the Phakalane Hotels.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor Tabulawa expressed gratitude and delight in formalising the agreement. He said the signing of the MoU marked the culmination of a lengthy process that took long to carry out. He further said he anticipated a positive partnership that would benefit all the parties and yield more results.
Phakalane Golf Estate Resort Managing Director, Mr Thola Magang, expressed his delight in partnering with the UB particularly in the hospitality sector and looks forward to a strong and mutually beneficial relationship. He stated that Phakalane Hotel had built a strong reputation in infrastructure development since 2002 and was excited to further expand in the hospitality sector.
Mr Magang highlighted the vast employment opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industry particularly for the youth. He state that the partnership would create avenues for UB students and Phakalane Hotel staff through training, attachments and potential job opportunities.
