University of Botswana and the University of the West of England Explore Potential Partnership
The Acting Deputy Dean for Research, Engagement and Postgraduate Studies of the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, Professor Gabriel Faimau, together with the Chairperson of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology from UB recently visited the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) to explore potential partnerships.
UWE Bristol recently expanded its regional and international partnership and confirmed its broader commitment to strengthening partnerships with universities in Africa, through the launch of the Centre for African Social and Economic Transformation (CASET). This collaborative ecosystem provides innovative ground for international partners to engage in impactful academic exchanges.
During the visit, the UB delegation held high-level talks with Prof. Yvonne Beach, UWE’s Pro Vice Chancelor International and Professor Darrent Reynolds, Pro Vice Chancelor for Research and Knowledge Exchange. The discussions focused on building collaborations in teaching and learning, research and knowledge exchange, with both institutions expressing strong interest in formalising a partnership.
As part of the engagement, Professor Faimau presented an official letter from the UB Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, formally inviting the UWE Vice Chancellor and his management team to visit the University of Botswana.
The UB delegation toured several key facilities at UWE Bristol, including the Robotics Laboratory showcasing cutting-edge 
innovation, Future Space a leading hub in the United Kingdom for enterprise and technology development, the Glenside Campus popularly known for its health and social care programmes and meetings with the School of Social Sciences exploring academic collaboration with UB’s Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences.
The visit marks an important step in strengthening academic partnership and cooperation between UB and UWE Bristol. According to Professor Faimau, “this anticipated partnership is expected to strengthen academic collaboration, research and innovation partnerships, capacity building and professional development as well as student and staff mobility and exchange.”
