Unbelievable Comeback: Kufigwa Last Minute Strike Secures Hawks Draw Against Prisons XI

MMKhumoetsile Kufigwa scored a stunning late equalizer to secure University of Botswana (UB) Hawks a 2-2 draw away to First Division South League rivals, Prisons XI, in a captivating contest over the weekend.

Kufigwa scored both two goals for Hawks after a long struggle against former premier league giants Prisons XI. He opened the scoring for Hawks in the 80th minute while the stunning equaliser came in the 89th minute from a 40-yard strike sending the ball into the far post corner. Prisons XI enjoyed ball possession in both halves as they looked more experience and dominant.

They secured their first goal in the 25th minute through a penalty committed by UB Hawk’s defender, Bonno Sepako while the second goal came in the 30th minute due to Hawk’s poor defence. However, despite the 2-0 lead by Prisons XI in the first half, Hawks were not frustrated and kept on pressing in the closing stages while Prisons XI dropped deeper and deeper. Unfortunately, that proved to be Prisons XI’s downfall as they allowed Hawks to ignite their magic and rise aggressively especially in the last ten minutes to secure a draw.

The equalising goal from brilliant display by Hawks’ striker, Kufigwa, in the 89th minute did not sit well for the Prisons XI side as the referee immediately blew the final whistle. Chaos broke out after Prisons XI fans stormed the pitch to baying for the referee’s blood while on the Hawks side fans stormed the pitch in celebration.
