In a bid to grow professionally thereby expanding skills, the University of Botswana (UB) Tourism and Hospitality students attended the Sea Island three (3) months Internship Trainee Programme interview on the 24th October 2023 with an aim to seek admission into a Five Star Resort in the United States of America (USA).

Sea Island is located five (5) miles away from the private beach on the south-eastern coast of Georgia State, USA. and comprises three (3) hotels, cottages, executive lodges and an Inn. It is the only resort in the world to have received four (4) Forbes Five-Star awards for 13 consecutive years. Sea Island provides exceptional settings for conferences, as well as offering retreats for families and sports enthusiasts.

Other tertiary institutions that were invited for the Sea Island interview included Botho University (BU), Gaborone Technical College (GTC), Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE) as well as Maun Technical College (MTC). Speaking at the ceremony, Sea Island, Director of Food and Beverages- Restaurants and Culinary, Chef Jonathan Jerusalmy, highlighted that Sea Island was looking for future leaders with passion to give amazing guest service besides growing and developing their skills within food and beverage operations.  

Chef Jerusalmy said the expert team at Sea Island created a personalised training plan for each student to grow and learn hands on the areas that they were most interested in. He also assured the students of a great training experience and advised them to bring a good learning attitude. He said the selected students will have the opportunity to interact with people from diverse cultures across the world and create a meaningful work.

Chef Jerusalmy said the training programme covered travelling costs, accommodation, meals and including benefits such as 30 percent off retails, 30 percent off in spa, 20 percent off food and beverages.
