UB Rhinos Claim Silver in Men’s Gabs 7’s International Rugby League Tournament
University of Botswana men’s rugby team, UB Rhinos, received silver medals for second spot after a 19 – 5 setback against Gabs Hogs in a 7’s International Rugby League Tournament at UB Stadium on the 14th of September 2024.
UB Rhinos faced fierce competition against their long-time rivals, Gabs Hogs, in a highly anticipated match between two of the top teams in the country. Although Hogs dominated much of the game, Rhinos demonstrated remarkable consistency, confidence and discipline throughout the contest.
In the women’s category, UB Rhinos secured the bronze medal after a commanding 40-5 victory over Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) in the playoffs. However, their journey to the finals was halted in the semi-finals where they were defeated by the Gabs Hogs women's team.
