GABORONE – UB Kicks women’s football team put on a spirited performance against FC Ambassadors in the Gaborone City Regional Football Association (GACFA) Division 1 Women’s Tournament, battling to a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the 16th of March 2025, at Lekidi Stadium. Both teams now sit on four points in the league standings.
FC Ambassadors came out strong from the first whistle, launching relentless attacks in an attempt to break UB Kicks' defence. Despite absorbing the early pressure, UB Kicks responded with swift counterattacks, pressing forward in search of the opening goal.
The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when FC Ambassadors capitalised on a defensive lapse. UB Kicks' goalkeeper, Precautious Tabengwa, mishandled an aerial cross just outside the penalty area, resulting in a direct free kick. FC Ambassadors’ winger, Gaone Olemogeng, stepped up and curled a well-placed shot off the far crossbar and into the net, giving her side a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
UB Kicks came back rejuvenated in the second half, dominating possession and launching relentless attacks from all flanks. Their persistence paid off in the 80th minute when a crucial corner kick from Susan Balangani found Amantle ‘Danger’ Bokhalanyane, who soared above the defence to power a header into the net, leveling the score at 1-1.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing minutes but neither could break the deadlock before the final whistle. The draw leaves UB Kicks and FC Ambassadors tied on four points, keeping the title race wide open in the GACFA Division 1 Women’s Tournament.
