UB Hawks Football Club’s quest for a National First Division South League spot looks promising after a thrilling double victory against Naughty Boys and Mochudi United over the weekend. They only need to maintain their form in the remaining two games and they will be home and dry.
The Hawks set the bar higher against their rivals as they are the only team that has accumulated six points, placing top of the play-offs log. In the first game, the Hawks thrashed Tlokweng Naughty Boys 1-0 from a spot kick after Bokang Kwarare found the back of the net in the dying minutes of the first stanza.
Throughout the game, the Hawks enjoyed overwhelming support from their enthusiastic fans including the Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris. They dominated their opponents with ball possessions and shots on targets but were not so lucky to increase their goal tally.
In the second game, the Hawks hammered Mochudi United 3-1 after displaying a high level of performance that catapulted them to the top of the log.
The first goal came through a penalty kick and Thabang Bojosi did not waste time burying the ball behind the net. Kago Sesinyi increased the tally to two while minutes later Bonno Sepako sealed the game after scoring the third goal.
The games continue on the weekend of July 8, 2022 during which the Hawks will face off with VTM and Debswana Young Stars. The team accumulating the most points will be promoted to the National First Division South League.
Giving remarks, UB Hawks Assistant Coach, Mr Kabelo Setso, said he was impressed with the team’s performance, self-confidence and the way the players implemented the principles they agreed upon on the field. He said the Hawks’ performance keeps on improving hence he was highly optimistic they would win the rest of games this weekend.
