UB Community Gets COVID-19 Jab as Botswana Rolls Out Vaccination

The UB community is encouraged to go for vaccination against SARS-Cov-2 which commenced on Tuesday 11th May 2021 at UB clinic.COVID-19 Jab

The vaccination exercise is undertaken following the Ministry of Health and Wellness schedule and will be conducted under guidance of Greater Gaborone District Health Management Team. So far those getting the vaccination this week are those 65 years and above after which the 55 to 64 years age bracket will be next.

Director Health Services, Dr Chilindi Maloiso, said the vaccination exercise was progressing well and they were currently using Sinovac. Dr Maloiso called upon other members of the UB Community to register at the UB Clinic so that they could be vaccinated as per schedule. He said those undertaking the vaccine go through counselling and briefing on the possible side effects and were given a monitoring tool to keep track of everything related to the vaccine.

The vaccination rollout sequence for the UB community is as follows:

1. Those 65 and above

2. Those 55 to 64

3. Health care workers
