The team recently travelled to Oudtshoorn, South Africa to represent Botswana. They left an indellible mark on the mat, showcasing not only their athleticism but their spirit and unity as well.
In the Senior Hip Hop Double category, Aobakwe Bodibe and Kevin Bojelo delivered an energetic, high-octane routine that impressed both judges and audiences alike, earning them a bronze medal. The duo’s synchronisation, technical execution and captivating stage presence stood out in a fiercely competitive category.
Meanwhile, in the Senior Cheer Pom Double, Katlo Bogosi and Chedza Bante also secured a bronze medal, dazzling the judges with their sharp motions, powerful formations and polished choreography. Their performance was a blend of grace and grit, reflecting months of hard work and determination.
The team was led by captain Aobakwe Bodibe, whose leadership both on and off the mat proved pivotal to the group’s cohesion and success. The competition marked a significant milestone for the team - their first time participating on an international stage - and they rose to the occasion with poise and pride.
Behind the team’s success stands two dedicated coaches, Lorato Janice Kgangyapelo and Sfiso Sigogo, whose mentorship and guidance were instrumental in preparing the athletes for the momentous challenge. Their commitment to building a strong cheerleading culture at UB is beginning to bear fruit and this competition was just the beginning.
