The University of Botswana (UB) Stadium provided a fitting stage for a memorable finale to the 2026 CUCSA Games as Team Botswana produced outstanding performances in the track and field events. The men's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams stormed to gold, bringing the home crowd to its feet and underlining Botswana's strength in athletics.
The final day also saw Botswana add silver and bronze medals in the 400m events, while Omphile Calvin emerged as one of the stars of the Games, sprinting to victory in the men's 200m to claim his second gold medal in his maiden appearance at the regional competition. The victorious relay team comprised Seretse Patlo, Luzani Mooketsi, Leitseng Abofelo and Omphile Calvin.
UB was equally proud to celebrate the achievements of its own student-athletes. UB Athletics Club athlete Tumisang Kebaneilwe contributed to Team Botswana's impressive medal haul by securing bronze in the men's 10,000m event, highlighting the University's continued role in nurturing sporting talent.
As host of the 22nd CUCSA Games, the University not only provided world-class facilities and hospitality but also demonstrated its commitment to developing athletes who continue to excel on the regional stage.
