UB & Bergstan Consulting Engineers Sign MoU to Formalise Working Relations

SigningThe University of Botswana (UB) and Bergstan Consulting Engineers have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise their long-standing working relationship in areas of joint research projects, staff training, seminar presentations and student attachments.

The MoU was signed on the 8th May 2025 at UB Council Chamber. Deputy Vice Chancellor Teaching and Learning, Professor Richard Tabulawa, signed for the University of Botswana while Managing Director, Mr Simon Mmopi, signed on behalf of Bergstan Consulting Engineers.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor Tabulawa said university-industry collaboration was crucial for fostering innovation, improving research and enhancing education. It benefits both institutions and businesses by providing access to resources, expertise and real-world problem-solving opportunities, ultimately driving economic development and technological advancement. 

Meanwhile, Mr Mmopi stated that investing in young talent would build foundation for resilient young talent in future. He also expressed gratitude towards formalisation of working collaboration with UB and commitment towards promoting research and innovation as well as professional development in Botswana. He said the formalisation of the working relations with UB was a significant step towards nurturing young and future civil engineers in Botswana.
