UB Awards Miss Botswana 2021 Top 16 Finalists Sponsorship Worth More than P50 000

Mis Botswana1University of Botswana has awarded Miss Botswana 2021 Top 16 finalists sponsorship valued at more than P50 000 to undertake a Protocol for Executives short course at the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris, announced the sponsorship during a courtesy call the 16 finalists paid on him at the University of Botswana on October 29, 2021.

Of the 16 contestants, nine of them comprised University of Botswana students and alumni. "We believe that the return on investment in critical leadership skills will bear exponential fruits, not only for yourselves but for the Republic of Botswana," said Professor Norris addressing the contestants on the eve of the pageant. He advised the contestant to equip themselves with problem solving skills and to have the right attitude, enthusiasm  and good communication skills if they were to succeed in the job market. He urged them to be selfless and invest their energies in community projects especially by extending a helping hand to the less privileged.

Professor Norris advised the contestants to use the Miss Botswana platform for self development and to fulfill their ambitions,Palesa noting that even though there was only one winner, they should not abandon their ambitions but use them to create inner greatness . The Vice Chancellor impressed upon them the value of pooling their resources and working together because working solo was less productive especially in business.

Professor Norris further briefed them on the new University of Botswana strategy whose main goals were excellence, societal impact besides producing well rounded graduates with the ability and capacity to work anywhere in the world.
Meanwhile, Palesa Molefe was crowned Miss Botswana 2021 while Micheller Mayer Bagoleng and Marang Makhoana were crowned first and second princesses respectively.
