Prof Nwaigwe Gets UN Appointment as Global Environmental Outlook-7 Expert
Prof Kevin N. Nwaigwe of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been appointed a Global Environment Outlook-7 expert for United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Prof Nwaigwe is a lead author in the energy transformation policies and solutions pathway. He joins about 100 other experts selected from around the globe to prepare the seventh edition of the global environment outlook (GEO-7).
As part of the orientation for preparation of the GEO-7, Prof Nwaigwe joined other experts in the GEO-7 Modelling/Scenarios and Solutions Pathways Methodology Workshops and the First Global Authors’ meeting held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand from March 8 – 17, 2023.
Prof Nwaigwe had previously participated in the regional consultation workshop for the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) 2023 held in 2022. This was another UN assignment for experts aimed at outcomes to serve as inputs to the 2023 United Nations Global Sustainable Development Report, which will inform the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit to be held in September 2023.
